Attending The NCS, Nancy soon discovered that her teachers wanted nothing but the best for her future. Knowing her love for maths and wanting to go on to Oxbridge, she was soon sitting undergraduate content in additional classes led by our exceptional staff.
Our links with Oxbridge allowed Nancy to visit the University of Oxford three times before she applyied to study there. She found our Oxbridge preparation sessions particularly useful, being led by our Oxbridge educated teachers made all the difference to her success at interview. “Oxbridge sessions are really unique to The NCS. I don’t even know where to start with how NCS has changed my life. I’m a completely different person leaving than I was when I joined the school two years ago. “
Isuf has benefitted from The NCS’ new Elite University Preparation Programme, which provides support to all students whilst they make applications to the most competitive universities and school leaver programmes in the world.
Expressing an interest in applying to an Ivy League university, Isuf was one of a number of students to have tutoring from a specialist in the SAT entrance exam that The NCS works with. We also took him on our exploration trip to the USA which allows students to learn about and visit MIT, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Columbia.“The NCS brought in a tutor from the US who helped us revise for the general SAT, which is an exam that all students have to do to apply to the most competitive universities in the US. That was probably some of the best help I’ve ever gotten in terms of actually revising for an exam.”
Wanting to study medicine at university, Ibrahim worked through a difficult period with the support of The NCS. With every student receiving an iPad to aid their studies, he was able to access all of his lesson material and resources when forced to miss occasional lessons. His teachers were available via email and video tutoring on iTunes U wherever he was, meaning his studies didn’t suffer.
Back in school Ibrahim enjoyed all the preparation we provided for his medicine application to university. Thinking he would need to find and pay for his own interview courses, he was delighted to discover everything he needed was presented to him free of charge as part of our Elite University Preparation. “I found The NCS provided me as many mock interviews as I needed. And that was what made the difference. That was what allowed me to get into every university that I wanted to get into.”
When visiting The NCS prior to joining, Lucy found our environment unique. She loved our attitude of being able to achieve anything if you put in the hard work. It immediately started to give her more confidence and helped her dream of where she could take herself in the future.
She also loved the teachers that she met. After enrolling those teachers helped her gain all the enrichment that The NCS is known for, including an exciting week long workshop at the University of Cambridge’s chemistry department. “The teachers were my main incentive to come to NCS. Because I could see that they genuinely care about you and also they really care about the subjects. So you know that you’re getting a really good, first of all, teaching of the content, but also being extended beyond the specification.”
Tafsia joined us from Sarah Bonnell and achieved A* / A* / A* / A* / A at A Level. She now studies at MIT in America where she’s looking to focus on Material Science and Engineering.
The NCS provided Tafsia with all the support she needed to achieve her goal of attending an Ivy League university. Her message of positivity and not being afraid to compete to get the best for yourself reverberates around the walls of our buildings, leaving many students now looking to emulate her successes. “The NCS gave me everything I wanted in a college experience. It helped me through my A Levels so much. The teachers are amazing. I miss it! But yes, I would absolutely 100% recommend it.”
Earlier this year we were visited by the team from the Good Schools Guide, the notable publication that’s written by educational experts, for parents.
